Spring Break '09, OWW

Spring of 2009.
Normally I would go on a trip but this year I decided to stay and work with students. I didn't want to do something that I didn't want to do and be a follower so I decided to do my route. Dudley Johnson is my school's Resources Specialist and he knew that I was interested in doing some tutoring. About a week before Spring Break started, I got assigned what I needed to do. I was going to be tutoring a total of 6 kids raising their grades in math. I was in Eleventh Grade at the time so I thought this was going to give me a good feel on how to help others in math. The kids that I was going to be tutoring were ninth graders and they felt a little intimidated because I was helping them. By the end of the week, they all felt very comfortable in talking to me not only about their problems for math but in their personal lives too.

Spring Break '08

At my school, its pretty much like a Work now, Play later metaphor and I am totally in agreement with it because that's mainly how I work. I know that if I work hard and finish early then I have more fun later. In my school, we have something called One World Week. One World Week (OWW) is one week were we get to learn about other cultures around the world. We do this by traveling to the places that we want to learn about. For example, last year I went to Florida for a week, there I learned about the ocean and the animals that are in danger. This is how I got started to look for a career in Marine Biology. I just loved to know that I am doing something to change the world a little better, even if I am one person. I can still make a difference.

High School Working Life

Hello Everyone and welcome to my blog.
In my school, there is such a thing called Internship and this gives the students a view on how to balance school and work, and make real world connections. For my internship last year, I decided to do mine at Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute. I picked this internship because at the time I wanted to study marine biology because that same year I went to Florida and I just loved being in the water and seeing the animals in their natural habitat. This internship taught me how things work in the real world, and how to balance my work life with my school life, and my personal life. It was a challenge to keep all these things together but at the end of the internship, I was glad I went through it because it taught me that I should work somewhere were I love to go to everyday. Otherwise, whats the point of even going to work if you don't like it. That's when I realized that my real passion is, Flim making and Helping others succeed.
Flimmaking has always been a passion of mine since I was a little. Helping Others Succeed is something that I think makes a huge impact on the person that I am helping, which is why I am doing summer internship.
